its that time of the year when everybody in advertising is busy clearing their desks & confirming bookings for the new year binge. for me, its time to take stock of the year gone by. obits & births, losses & wins, the good & the bad, the highs & the lows.
a bad year is a good tutor. it makes one strong, turns your senses on alert mode.
manoj tapadia, cd at lowe called this morning. "i was cleaning up my cel addressbook," he said "& i was wonderign whatever happenned to you..." so we spoke awhile & tried to 'catch up'
its a strange world; out of sight, out of mind.
he's done quite a bit: wrote the dialogues for balki's film, made a few tvcs for lifebuoy, & so on. when i really catch up with him, i will post the news here.
this year has been diffi & different. it was a time to rebuild, relook, relearn, & realign systems & methods at the production house. all of six months went in what is routinely termed as hr. work was satisfying, but it was less than the usual haul.
the team is stronger, beefed up, well trained, & raring to go. & the process of adfilmmaking refreshingly is altogether different. the inputs from all & sundry is thrusting a new attitude.
end of the day, or end of the year, it matters if you smile with hope, rather than if you smile with smug satisfaction.
