High in the hills of panchgani, nestled in the red soiled school-country next to the mahabaleshwar strawberry country i found a picturesque old school that Freddy Mercury went to - St. Peter's.
Three days of shoot is not really a hectic affair unless it involves the rain machine, an old bulky crane, storm fans, & a motley crew of hundred to be lugged up & down steep slopes. It was precisely that sort of a tough scenario.
But even tougher was the task I had set out for myself; to make the video simple, like a semester ending playback exercise - no gimmicks, no effects, no visual wizardy. Evoke childhood memories of school-time with simple shots. So the effort was to go completely opposite of what we view on the tube, channel after channel. A video that looks like it was shot twenty years ago!!!
The video's on air. The 30 seconder ad culled out of the video too is on air.
We first recorded the song in Rishi Kamerkar's voice. & Vijay's. & it sounded superb! Justin Uday did a superfluous job. There was a soul to the music.
But the client wanted a celeb voice so we had to go with Shaan & Mahalaxmi. It still sounded fine.
Har Akshar Har Yaad Simti hui hai...
That's the second project with Pushpinder Singh that has left me satisfied.
Made a few more TVCs in the past 2-3 months. There are eight of them on air right now.
It's time to relax, to spend with Aum & Swati, & to ponder over the features waiting to be made...
